Kislev is arguably the busiest month on the Chassidishe calendar, and at Rohr Bais Chaya Academy, every moment has been carefully imbued with meaningful, innovative and exciting programs.
The tenth graders, the hosts of the Mother-Daughter Melava Malka, chose the theme of “Unity – K’ish Echad B’lev Echad” to highlight the birthday, yahrtzeit and Chag Ha’Geulah of the Mitteler Rebbe, who established the city of Lubavitch, the town of brotherly love.
Yud Tes Kislev was introduced by an evening Farbrengen with Rabbi Levi Wineberg of South Africa, editor of Lessons in Tanya and renowned lecturer.
A full day program followed, centered on the goal of “Breaking Free”. Using workshops, farbrengens, games, learning, and videos of the Rebbe, the students explored different aspects of how to break free of, and grow from challenges. This became very concrete as the girls set out on mivtzaim, breaking out of their own comfort zones, and getting other to break out of their standard routines with a new mitzvah.
The inspiration carried into the evening with another farbrengen by Mrs. Rochel Holzkenner co-director of Chabad of Las Olas and high-school teacher at Rohr Bais Chaya.
With 68 students in attendance this year, we expect record enrollment for the upcoming school year. Registration is already open for 2016 and more information can be found at www.baischaya.com
