A shooting occurred on the corner of Crown Street and Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights on Thursday morning.
At approximately 10:00 am, a car pulled over with two men in it, one of them shot at a man who was walking down the street and then drove off, bystanders said.
He was taken to the hospital for injuries to his leg, which did not appear to be serious, bystanders reported.
No Jews were involved and the NYPD didn’t answer additional questions.
The incident is one of 9 shootings in the 71st Precinct so far this year, according to NYPD data. That’s up from 5 shootings in the same time period last year, DNAinfo reported.
The 71st Precinct has a 5% increase in major crimes from the 4 weeks prior to June 14, 2015.

Officially the numbers for crime in general are lower but the major crimes are up…why is that?
Simple. Reports of smaller crimes are likely swept under the rug but you can’t do that with major crimes. The PD and city care about numbers so they’ll try to show good numbers. Bottom line we need Rudy back or someone who will take crime seriously
But that 1 terrorist attack you sarcastically refer to is ANYWHERE in Israel. Not in a tiny neighborhood.
FTR you have no idea how many attacks are prevented by our brave border police & soldiers. We know how to take care of things. YOUR police are donut dodos. It’s becoming a war zone there, so don’t talk about Israel, it is much safer by far living here, despite the occasional terrorism. We are vigilant.

I worry about my children who still live in this nightmare. Gimmel Tammuz was 21 years ago and not only have Chassidishe standards plummeted, so have basic social & moral values. Running over an old man, getting out to check then driving away, daytime driveby’s – Crown Heights is like the Wild west – but not as attractive.
