During his recent trip to California, the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Dovid Lau, had a multitude of meetings with Federation leaders, philanthropists, rabbis, lay leaders in addition to many public addresses at various Jewish institutions across the state.
Nevertheless, the Chief Rabbi found time to make a very meaningful visit to the Shliach, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Hurwitz, who is stricken with the terrible disease, ALS.
Although Yitzi cannot speak or move, he was able to have a limited conversation with him utilizing special “eye tracking” computer equipment which Yitzi can control with his eyes and thus create words which are then spoken by this unique machine.
Rabbi Lau discussed with Rabbi Hurwitz and his family the importance of Emunah and how even in the face of the most difficult challenges we are able to remain positive. He spoke about the Rebbe’s great love for his Shluchim and gave them great chizuk to overcome the difficulties of today and look forward to a complete recovery.
The above mentioned “eye tracking machine”, other advanced medical equipment and all other needs of Rabbi Hurwitz and his family are being taken care of by a group of Shluchim and the Hurwitz Family Fund. You can help support Rabbi Yitzi by donating now online: www.hurwitzfamilyfund.com
