A record turnout is expected when 350 Shluchim begin a new groundbreaking JLI course, Journey of the Soul, next week across the globe.
Addressing a topic most frequently asked of rabbis, the six-week course from the Rohr Jewish Learning will explore death and bereavement.
The course, written by lead editor Rabbi Naftali Silberberg and the JLI Editorial team of over 10 people, is accredited by multiple agencies for continuing education for medical and mental health professionals.
After an examination of the nature of the soul and the Jewish understanding of the afterlife, participants will learn that Judaism does not view life as a pathway to an otherworldly paradise.
Rather, the ultimate goal is a return to this world of our experience, albeit in a perfected state. In this, there is consolation to the mystifying defect that is death as well as a philosophy for life with a positive world view and a purposeful way of living.
