As part of a unique teacher-training program offered to seniors this year at the Bais Chana Girls High School in Worcester, students developed an interesting way to teach the younger classes at Yeshiva Academy about the Alter Rebbe’s escape from Liadi to Haditch.
The students created Russian passports complete with each student’s picture and arranged five missions with stops and passport stamp upon completion.
There were five stops and missions. First stop was LIADI, where each child had to collect 10 scraps of paper, reminding them of the Alter Rebbe’s lesson of insisting that nothing was to be left in his home.
Second stop was POLTOVA. The mission was to recite tehillim because this is where the Alter Rebbe spent Rosh Hoshona.
Third stop was PIENNA. The mission here was to spread out a blanket and pillow for the Alter Rebbe because this was one of the few non-Jewish villages on the way where the Alter Rebbe was warmly welcomed.
Fourth stop was KREMENTCHUG. The mission at this stop was to stack a bunch of blocks into a “house” because this was where the Alter Rebbe sent his son, the Mitteler Rebbe, to arrange housing for refugees after the war.
Fifth stop was Haditch. Here, the students had to recite what they learned about the Alter Rebbe and were told that this was the place of the kever.
