On Thursday afternoon, the 23rd of Elul, Bnos Chomesh Academy held a Mezuzah installation ceremony at the school’s new location on Kingston Avenue and Lincoln Place in Crown Heights.
Members of the board joined Principal Dena Gorkin and staff, students and friends to celebrate the dedication of Bnos Chomesh’s new location.
Dedicated friends of the school, Chazan Avi Albrecht and his wife Ahuva, from Baltimore, Maryland, joined Bnos Chomesh for the occasion. In his beautiful tenor, Chazan Albrecht recited the bracha before affixing a mezuzah to the front door. Supporters and friends in turn mounted mezuzahs on each of the classroom and office doors.
After the mitzvah was completed, everyone gathered at the nearby Chesed Center, where Rabbi Lieder’s legendary hospitality greeted participants. A beautiful spread of refreshments and were prepard by the center’s staff. Rabbi Hildeshaim inspired the crowd with some beautiful horaos from the Rebbe about the mitzvah of mezuzah. Chazan Albrecht blessed all of the students of Bnos Chomesh that they should establish Yiddishe homes and find good Shidduchim in the right time!
The students of Bnos Chomesh enjoyed the event and were inspired. One by one, as they walked back into school, they reached toward the door post and kissed the new mezuza with the assurance that the Shomer Dalsos Yisroel will protect them from all dangers and distress.
