While the Rebbe’s sensitivity to every Jew is well-known, recordings of direct interactions between the Rebbe and individuals with special needs, or their parents, are quite rare.
Almost 6 years ago, researchers at JEM encountered just such a video clip.
As they always do with clips of a private nature, they requested the parents’ permission to publicize the clip, explaining that the Rebbe’s words would be a source of strength and inspiration to others families with facing similar challenges.
Finally, Rabbi Akiva Nussbaum, JEM’s Director of Research obtained permission.
Here is the exchange:
that is so amazing
As a person who works with children with special needs, and a mother, thank you for sharing this inspirational clip. I love how the Rebbe immediately wants this young man to be a shaliach and influence others to do mitzvos. Thank you for sharing!
thank you for sharing. may the family always have naches from all their family!
i would also say my daughter with down syndrome has a special connection with hashem. “special” children are truely special

all of the profoundly special needs children have a clear line to Hakodosh Boruch Hu. May we learn from their kedusha and their temimusdik connection. Very beautiful video, THANKYOU SO MUCH.
As a parent of two boys with special needs (one is in a residence) this video was especially meaningful to my entire family. A special thank you to the parents for sharing this special video.
As a parent of a child with special needs,I can’t adequately express what this video did for me. Please thank the parents of this child for allowing this special video to be publicized.
I am in tears!
Thank you Akiva for doing what you do!
