With the end of the fiscal year quickly approaching, people are hurrying to make their final donations of 2012, and many shluchim are looking to be the lucky receivers.
Fun facts:
· 41% of all giving occurs in the last few weeks of the year.
· 33% of December donations occur on December 31.
· The peak giving time on December 31 is between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in any given time zone.
· Surprisingly, one survey suggests that religion, tax deductions, and appeals from charities have little to do with the deciding factors in making donations.
Hoping to take advantage of this opportune time, shluchim are doing what they can to give their fundraising efforts a boost in creative ways, and many are calling on professional help.
“Rabbi Levi Schechtman from Machon L’Shlichus has kindly taken the time to guide me throughout the entire process,” says Rabbi Binyomin Bitton, shliach to Vancouver, British Columbia.
Machon L’Shlichus, a division of Merkos Suite 302, offers shluchim year-round comprehensive tools and training with an expanded division geared for new shluchim to be launched in the coming months. Now serving 450 shluchim and counting, Machon L’Shlichus’s current focus on year-end giving provides participating shluchim with customizable e-mail templates, conference calls, webinars, and more.
The year-end benefit is already evident. Says Rabbi Bitton, “The professional emails are very well received and have made a tremendous impression on the community.”
“It’s all about having the right tools,” says Rabbi Schectman. “Fortified with this, shluchim can maximize their benefit from this donation season and year round.”

If you pay taxes, sure we mark it…as the last day to make a donation that counts as a tax deduction for the year 2012
Not so fun fact ;-): hardly anyone gives money as a result of an e-mail(s) alone. It takes lots of hard work throughout the year.or even longer. Some (fundraising veterans) say the e-mail can’t hurt and some say you’re better off without them…
personally I think it is ridiculous how many emails I got from my chabad lists asking for money before 31/12/12. A lot sounded pretty desparate plus do we mark 31/12/12 as yidden?
Can’t forget to mention the paparatzi of fundraising coaching for shluchim worldwide himself – Rabbi Duchman of Los Angeles,
