The annual winter camp for children of Chabad Shluchim worldwide, this year operating at its newly purchased campsite in Florida, is now open for registration.
Camp Gan Israel – Tzeirei Hashluchim, run by the Shluchim Office, recently purchased a share in the Chabad owned Gold Coast Camp, a 20-acre property in the heart of South Florida.
Formerly located in sunny Oracle, Arizona, under the auspices of the regional Shliach Rabbi Yossie Shemtov, the camp will now have a permanent place, easier access to airports and a larger base of campers, as reported on COLlive.
The state-of-the-art camp grounds has air-conditioned buildings, and among the site’s amenities is a 7-acre paintball field, a lake with canoes, basketball and beach volleyball courts, ropes courses, climbing and challenge towers – and a large heated swimming pool.
The camp takes place for 10 days corresponding to most schools’ mid-winter vacation and the program is run by experienced, chassidishe head staff and counselors.
“As our inaugural camp on the new campsite, we are very excited to host both boys and girls divisions this year,” said Rabbi Moshe Pinson of the Shluchim Office, who coordinates the camp.
He said that last year the camp was forced to shutter the girls’ division due to a lack of funds and move the camp to an alternating schedule, with one year for boys, and one year for girls.
“With the new campsite available, all children of shluchim will have the opportunity to join the camp and spend quality time with their peers, fellow children of shluchim who understand the shlichus life,” he said.
This year’s camp dates:
Girls Camp (Ages 7-12)
Monday Dec. 9 – Thursday Dec. 19
Boys Camp (Ages 7-13)
Thursday Dec. 19 – Monday Dec. 30
