AEPi Fraternity Visits Yeshiva

After spending Shabbos with over 200 students at the Chabad house at Oneonta, NY, a group of boys from the AEPi global Jewish college fraternity of Oneonta drove 3 hours to Morristown to Farbreng with the Rabbis and students at Tiferes Yeshiva.

The Motzei Shabbos farbrengen ended at 2:30 am, with the boys catching just a few hours of sleep, then joining a Chassidus class in the morning. They studied a mamar with chavrusas followed by an interactive class with Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Dubinsky.

The trip continued with a trip to a Jets game before returning to Oneonta.

“These boys, many of whom never expected to ever be in a Yeshiva, walked away with a new perspective of what religious Judaism is all about,” said Tiferes Yeshiva Director of Admissions Rabbi Boruch Hecht.

In the words of student Adam Fleischman, “Coming here I didn’t know what to expect, the Rabbi didn’t give us much detail…When we walked in there was this singing and cheering… I was blown away! My study partner was also very cool. Now I’m interested in furthering my Jewish education.”

“This is an experience I never thought I would encounter. I have benefited from this and I can apply this to my own learning style as well,” said Sam Hochman, another student.

The event was a great success, according to Hecht, who says the school is happy to accommodate other groups interested in organizing a similar trip. “We hope other AEPis and schools will join us as well!” he said.
