It was a ‘bring your friends’ night, with an emphasis on friends from Europe.
Aliya Institute, a center for youth-at-risk in Crown Heights, held a chassidic farbrengen for its members this week to mark Gimmel Tammuz with the help of guests.
It was hosted in the home of Aliya alum and IDF veteran, Yudi Shechter.
Joining them was Rabbi Yehuda Tiechtel, the energetic Head Shliach in Berlin, who is a personal friend of Aliya’s Director Rabbi Moishe Feiglin. The two learned together in Chabad’s Yeshiva Gedola in Melbourne, Australia, and have maintained their connection since.
Another guest speaker was Rabbi Zalman Eidelman, a Shliach and teacher to many in Vienna, Austria, who is a friend of Aliya’s Mashpia Rabbi Noteh Shemtov.
Also in attendance was a visitor from Aliya’s sister institution Rabbi Mendel Zirkind from Yeshiva Beis Menachem in Wilkes Barre, PA.
After spending a few hours there, both guests from Europe commented that it was one of their most joyous and inspirational farbrengens in a while. They said they will return during the next Kinus Hashluchim in New York.
Speaking to Aliya’s regulars, they shared stories and uplifting thoughts about connecting to the Rebbe and his love for all.
dj- i miss u. come back to ch!!!
I remember Rabbi Yehuda Tiechtel when he was a shliach in melbourne, he lived & breathed Moshiach! A burning and inspiring Meshichist! It must be grest mesiras nefesh living where he does. But as i remember him, i’m not surprised, he was devoted to the Rebbe.
