A group of Crown Heights residents, headed by Zaki Tamir – Chairman of the CHJCC, have banded together to help Crown Heights with Pesach needs.
This Sunday, March 25, residents may pick up vouchers for produce and other necessities at the CHJCC Office, 387 Kingston Avenue, between the hours of 7 pm and 9 pm.
“Last year, on behalf of the Vaad Hakohol, I distributed two truck-loads of food and every last package was distributed b’h,” Tamir told COLlive. “Last year’s experience has shown me that indeed there are many families that may not need help all year round, but do in fact need help for a holiday that is so expensive, like Pesach.”
Crown Heights residents only, please make sure to bring valid photo ID and proof of address.
Please note that the actual food distribution will be conducted on Wednesday March 28, 2012, 8pm – 10pm. Packages will be given only to ticket holders, as the food will be ordered according to the number of tickets given out.
Volunteers needed for Wednesday night, March 28, from 7 pm to 10:30 pm in Crown Heights. To volunteer please email Avi Werde at AVI@ECSEVENTS.COM.
Other individuals as well as several organizations are conducting food distributions as well. Among the many distributors are Mrs. Devorah Schiener, Rabbi Benji Stock, and Mr. Joseph Popack.
The food distribution that is being conducted by Bella Vilenkin on behalf of the CHJCC is separate and apart from the one Tamir is conducting.

It’s a great start and on behalf of the crown heights residents -we appreciate it- we question why there are so many separate food giveaways when individual ones that have been going on for many years have lost their supporters to the new ones and ended up severely in debt- but we appreciate anything that is done. But please….Mr. Tamir your predecessors didn’t forget us when we needed to pay the ridiculous costs for camp so that our kids are not roaming the hot crown heights streets because their parents must pay for electricity instead of camp.
Every single day you can see the amazing work that the Spielman family does distributing food. We are blessed to have such a great support group in our community who are always helping. May Hashem bless all those who help out. and may it bring big bracha to our amazing community.
what kind of food is going to be given out
When / Where are Popack and Hecht distributing the Pesach foods? I didn’t see any signs about it, and I need it…
GREAT WORK AS ALWAYS
