On a bright and beautiful Sunday, July 24, the Crown Heights All Stars met the Canadian All Stars in Syracuse, N.Y. to have their annual softball tournament.
Canada dominated the New York team in the first game, winning 12 – 0. Pitcher Eitan Mamon, the best pitcher in all of Toronto, struck out 6 batters and was in control all game. On the flipside, Dani Cole, star pitcher in the Crown Heights Softball League, was injured and unable to stay in the game.
The second game was a little closer with Toronto winning 17 – 16. Yonah Campuzano made a game saving play at shortstop to preserve the win.
“It was the most exciting game that I have played in a while,” said Crown Heights Softball League member Yitzi Cole.
The game started with Shua Cole pitching and and the Americans jumping all over the Canadians, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Zevi Wachtel that struck fear in the hearts of the Canadians and brought back pitcher Eitan Mamon. The Canadians promptly jumped out to a 16 – 8 lead… but the lead was short lived, and the Americans came roaring back against Eitan to tie the game. Still, it was not meant to be for the Americans, as the Canadians scored a run in extra innings to take game two.
A Bar-B-Que was served after the second game with Junior Chef Dovid Steinhauser manning the grill, and doing a fine job, serving ribeye steaks, chicken breasts, burgers, hot dogs and knishes. A special thank you to House of Glatt for partially sponsoring the event. More than 200 bottles of water and sports drinks were consumed during the day, and that still was not enough.
By the time game 3 was played, both teams were thoroughly exhausted but Canada came out on top, giving them all three games.
It was a big rebound from last year’s results, in which N.Y. won all 3 games. It was very evident that Canada came to play and brought out a much better team. The Americans were unable to match the fire power and hunger of the Canadians.
There is already buzz about playing next year to see who are the real champions.

interesting to note that the best players on the ch team (coles, wachtel) are all Torontonians!! Thats where the talents at- Go T.O!

I thought this was supposed to be a young anash game? Why are some of the players pictured without yarmulkas?? On a side note I have never heard of Eitan Mamon sounds like hes a good pitcher, But the best pitcher in Toronto? if so he shouldn’t be wasting his time in an amateur league?

Guess what, I scored a touchdown in flag football when I did a double move, and ran down the sideline,,, after I celebrated with kosher gatorade and and protien bar?!? Or btw we used a wilson football, and my family cheered me on!?! Now that’s news

Interesting to see that when New York wins, the headlines read N.Y. crushes but when Toronto wins, it gets downplayed and excuses are thrown in. “Daniel Cole was injured”.
