Keren Alta Mina wll hold their annual gathering in memory of Alta Mina Tiechtel obm on Tuesday evening – January 17 at 8:00 pm.
Alta Mina was a lovely little girl whose short life was permeated with joy. It is her living legacy that Keren Alta Mina perpetuates.
Speakers at the event include Mrs. Shaindy Jacobson and Mrs. Sara Morozov. The program will also include a musical Niggunim presentation by Bais Rivkah High School students.
The event will benefit the Keren Alta Mina organization, which was established in memory of Alta Mina, that brings happiness to families by providing baby and toddler furniture to those that need it.
Keren Alta Mina’s only support is friends of the family and members of the community. It is an organiation funded by the people of Crown Heights, for the people of Crown Heights. The demand is much greater than the available funding.
I jreturned from the gathering for minas yahrzeit just a few hours ago, but I still am under it’s influence iIt was an incredible evening. Gathered in the Tievhtel home were friends and family. Each speaker was so interesting and spoke from her heart, .Mrs Shaindy Jacobson spoke about the power of a niggun. She shared with us moving stories that went straight to my heart. Immediately after her talk four Beth Rivkah high school girls sang nigunim and one played on a keyboard. They explained the background of each niggun. I was just uplifted and understood why a niggun… Read more »
I remember alte minna by the rebbes farbrengens she sat with her father in the middle of 770 and I always remember the rebbe smiling at her and making lechaim she loved the farbregens !!!
The nachem is still given out every week on friday without fail
I stayed at the Teichtel’s a few times, a night does not go by that someone is not calling or at the door for help with baby needs.
Rabbi & Mrs, do this all without fanfare, mega events or anything. Thousands of pieces of furniture have been given out (many of my friends in Kolel when we where there where only able to survive those days due to this).
They need the financial hep to continue making this happen.
Here you can see Alta Mina saying a posuk by the Rebbe:

Mrs. Teichtel, you inspire me to continue to search for things to do to keep my child’s memory alive.

For those of us who knew Mina, we remember so vividly her determination in doing all things possible. I remember her persistence in explaining to the hospital nurses how they had to disconnect and reconnect the IV so she could put on Shabbos clothes before Shabbos. Sitting there in her hospital bed, surrounded by medical equipment, did it really matter what she wore? But to Mina it did- bec we get dressed in shabbos clothes to welcome the Shabbos.. and so in her zchus, no matter what the minutes before Shabbos are like, our entire family is sure to be… Read more »

We will never forget Alta Mina! May we be reunited with her speedily with the coming of Moshiach.
what a beautiful holy girl
I remember the pamphlets called Nachem in honour of alta minna a”h, that our class produced every week. It was an honour to be part of producing it. Morah teichtel, you still are an inspiration to me so many years after you were my principal. What you gave me In beis Rivka is an experience that prepared me for life … As a mother, teacher and mechaneches!! Sydney , Australia
being in BRHS in the early 90’s, we always got to see Alta Mina A”H, accompanying her mother in her job as principal for high school which started earlier than her own in elementary school.
Years later, her memory is still treasured!
(and I’m not even related)
Her constant enthusiasm for life, her JOY despite her personal hardships-even when the going got rough and rougher-an incredible inspiration!
May her memory be a blessing.
It is so beautiful how the Tiechtel family keeps the spirit and Neshama of Alta Mina alive, 22 years after her passing, by continuously giving out thousands of pieces of baby furniture to those in need, and bringing smiles to the faces of so many children. I remember how during the Shiva of Alta Mina A”H, her parents decided to keep Mina’s Neshama alive, and created Keren Alta Mina, to bring smiles to the faces of children in need, something Alta Mina enjoyed doing. It is so beautiful to see this small organization make such a BIG impact to the… Read more »
