Last night volunteers from the Rabbinical College of America – Chabad Headquarters of New Jersey together with its relatively new division “Rutgers Jewish Outreach” headed into the evacuated and powerless city of New Brunswick, NJ.
The group visited the University shelters in nearby Piscataway, NJ, where students living in university dormitories were evacuated to after losing power, and distributed free self-heating Kosher meals.
They visited seniors who were stranded as well.
Hundreds of Kosher meals were distributed through the night.
Rutgers University classes are closed until Monday, and most of the city is powerless. During this crisis, most of the University dining halls are shut down, and food is scarce, not to mention the lack of hot Kosher meals.
Rutgers Jewish Outreach will continue distributing these meals for the coming days, until everything is back to normal.
They will be handing out the meals during lunch and dinner times, outside the 2 open dining halls and mass shelters, located on one of the 5 campuses.
If anyone knows of any Jewish students in NJ who are in need of this service, and if you can help donate to this special project please visit Rca.edu/donate.
