A maid fired recently by a Great Neck family after six weeks on the job was ordered held without bail Thursday on charges of kidnapping the family’s 5-month-old daughter, police said.
Judge David McAndrews remanded Gloria Suarez, 55, of Glen Cove at her arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead. An order of protection was also issued for the infant, who was not identified.
Assistant District Attorney Melissa Lewis told the judge that the only identification carried by Suarez was not issued by the government, and that the City of Glen Cove was misspelled in the document.
The prosecutor said Suarez had changed the baby’s clothing from pink to blue and had indicated she wanted to take the child out of the area and possibly out of the country.
Legal Aid attorney Yolanda Guerra, said that, “As to the allegations, she does deny them in their entirety.”
Suarez, who was living at the home of her former employer on Allenwood Road, was charged with second-degree kidnapping, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a minor and obstructing government administration.
Police said the family hired Suarez as a housekeeper six weeks ago and fired her Monday because of poor performance. The family was allowing Suarez to live there temporarily, police said.
Suarez left the home with the baby at about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday while the mother was sleeping in another room, police said. The child’s father saw Suarez on the street and became suspicious because she was holding the baby and did not have the child’s stroller.
While the father was parking his car, he lost sight of Suarez and the infant, then called 911, police said.
Police went to Steppingstone Park in Kings Point, where witnesses said Suarez had been with the child, but left in a taxicab, officials said.
Officers found her holding the baby at the Roslyn railroad station at about 12:15 p.m.
Suarez refused to give up the infant, but was subdued by officers, police said.
we have to thank Hashem everyday for the miracles He does. Sometimes we may not relise the Nes, but certainly this incident we see clearly. Its 100% divine providence, for the father happening to see the house keeper with the baby. Hashem has his ways.
To quote” there are PLENTY of Jewish (and Russian Jewish) women who would appreciate a job” – although there may be more to this topic in general. Maybe a meeting about this would be good.
The charges against were dropped DSK.
Put her in a cell with Levi Aron.
my sister never hires a cleaner without expecting to copy her passport – if she runs off with ANYTHING, my sister can trace her!
speak in English…and learn how to spell.
you should just be thankful to hashem
it has always baffled my mind how the crown heights women trust their children with goyim!!!! there are PLENTY of Jewish (and Russian Jewish) women who would appreciate a job. I personally know of stories with non jewish babyssitters who have at best, given the children Tarfas intentionally, with the parents having no idea that not only did the child eat treif but that their pots and dishes are treif. In other stuations the goyishe sitter did alot worse. WAKE UP parents and treasure your children! DON’T put their physical and spiritual lives in danger.
this is soo right! this woman looks so scary…
the clothes that had elephants were was from the maid who baught a new stretche in order to hide she was a girl!!! stop blaming!
EXCUSE ME!! Just b/c a girl doesnt attend sem due to lack of funds or for any other reason, she should become a mother’s helper AKA cleaning lady?! What if she happens to be an intelligent, bright young girl who wants to pursue her dream of being on Shilchus or any other dream she has, she shouldn’t have to start her life feeling that its okay to clean other people’s homes simply because she has no other choice, since seminary isnt an option. So if Sem isnt an option then its no prob.. those girls can simply clean other peoples… Read more »
#7) Amazing idea! You are obviously a very intelligant girl, women, boy, or man. Thank you!
#15) It was only a mild suggestion. If you dont want to-dont! I personally think its an amazing idea.
Goyim?? How about Jews?? Or ANY other religion or race?? ANYONE can be a bad person or a good person. You don’t have to look too far to know there are some pretty bad Jews in this world too. This maid happens to have been a sicko, regardless of her nationality. Thank G-d the father noticed her holding the baby on the street and called the police. Thank G-d there was a happy ending. Bad people come in ALL sizes, colors and faiths. Buyer beware. That’s our job…to beware and be alert and do background checks IF we are going… Read more »
I couldn’t disagree more to what number 7 said. Why would we make post high school girls our mothers helpers.. They need a life too. It is your choice to have children and to take care of them is your responsibility! What kind of slave driver are you!
To #7: Yeah!!!
To #15: Come on…!
BTW, I’m a guy.
Who would allow such a woman that looks like that into the privacy of your home? My goodness!!
This comment is not so much geared to the frum population but I wish all those cynics who blamed the Kletzky’s for what happened would see this story. The father here called the police the very second it happened and they told him it was TOO EARLY!!!! If it wasn’t for his quick detective work, the kid would probably be in another country by now.
BS:D
sentence her to 20 years with DSK
yeah agree with you for those agencies making their bussiness and sending any low life from the street…. that woman is a WITCH, how a mother can go to sleep and living her baby with such WITCH! thks H. the father felt a red light
I’m surprised that in 15 comments no one has commented about the elephants on the baby’s clothing.
She looks really zees. You should raise her l’Torah, chupa u’maasim tovim metoch harchava and have much chasidisha nachas from her and your other children.
Shabbat Shalom u’menucha
Dovid
speak for your self i know allot of girls that would love to help and that think about shluchim !!!!!!
Who says we want to be mother’s helpers?
the baby is safe!! what a nes!!
that woman is such a shiktze!! yemach shmo!
yes there is a lesson to be learned but if they got her from an agency, then the agency is suppose to do that check. we hired a live in from an agency to take care of a senior and she was the most wonderful devoted woman, yes it was not for children but then are thousands of nannies hired this way. dont make it out like it was the parents fault in any way
It’s called a background check 🙂 amongst many other spelling mistakes on these comments.
of course a check has to be done by the parents/family before any goy or goya enter a jewish home but unfortunately we all need their help!! and PEOPLE BECARFUL HERE IN CROWN HEIGHTS FROM ALL THOSE AGENCIES MAKING MONEY ON YOU AND SENDING YOU CRAZY DRUGS GOYIM IN OUR HOMES…
learn a lessen from this!!!!!!!!!
one idea we did
was to get allot of information first
1) passport
2) drivers license
3) and othe id (social, adress
simply tell the person you want to hire you must have id in order to hire.
then you can do a back round check…
let all post seminary girls do their year of shlicus as mother’s helpers! Think how many girls can’t even get into sem. They could all be mothers helper’s too, and not feel left out.
BTW, In most critical office positions if you get fired, you are out the door immediately so you can’t sabotage anything. If you fire your maid, DUH, get her out ASAP.
Baruch Hashem, the baby’s safe.
but don’t play games with the safety of your children.
looks are nothing
even nice looking goyim are not trustworthy
dummy
half of crown heights have goyes but we have to take them for finger priinting and make sure theyre all legal with no criminal records
See what you get for being too nice. This maid looks scary. Thank you Hashem for this big nes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can not blv they even hired her in the first place
Aibishter Genuk!
How do you know someone is trustworthy? how to keep ur kids safe
Boruch Hashem she was found quickly.
