IDF Spokesperson, Brigadier General Avi Benayahu spoke this week at the 11th Annual Herzliya Conference about how Israel needs to use New Media as a strategic weapon.
In the ongoing battle over world opinion, he said he plans to establish blogs for other Israeli government spokesmen and commanders as a PR tool.
“We are at this front and proceeding slowly,” he said, and recommended that the government appoint a “new media minister.”
During his speech, Benayahu told participants the easy way to reach Jewish people in all continents of the world.
“The best way to reach the most people possible is to email Chabad spokesman (in Israel) Rabbi Menachem Brod and he sends it out to 5,000 Shluchim in the world,” he said.
In related news, Knesset Member Yochanan Plessner of Kadima spoke this week about his experiences with tradition at the “Jewish Identity Day” in Jerusalem.
“The first time I encountered Chabad, which is not in the framework (of Israeli funded institutions), is when I was studying in Boston,” he said.
“There, I came across Chabad in the pluralistic sense, as it connects and really makes it possible for Israeli, American, Mexican Jews, Jews from all places to meet, spend Shabbos, learn together, and celebrate the festivals.”
Chabad is a Jewish outreach org. and the two does not mix, the Rebbe spoke publicly when Israeli govt would act contradictory to the Torah, and explained its not politics, its simply Torah.
We have a Torah that doesn’t change
& a leader to follow,
Lets stay connected, and not get confused.
