Dovid Taub, the creator of “Itche Kadoozy” and other popular shows, has assembled a team of aficionados to create a new site for his particular brand of creative and humorous Jewish content.
Shmideo.com, which has been active for a week now, is the brainchild of Taub and DovBer Naiditch, his cowriter and actor on the Space Rabbi web series, as well as animator and producer Sruli Broocker.
The three, all members of the Chabad community in Pittsburgh, created a media company titled the Hasidic Creative Collective under which the new entertainment website will be operating.
“We’re going to build a site full of awesome, original, Jewy media, where people can come to waste time playing games and watching hilarious videos,” the team promised.
“You know that story in the Talmud where the sage Rabbah used to tell jokes before starting his lessons? Sure you do. Well we’re like that joke, except over a couple of hours, and probably not in Aramaic. Ka mashma lan.”
In just 3 days, their crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo went viral, and netted the team 25% of its goal. So far, the most popular perk is a personal phone call from Itche Kadoozy.
They said the site will be the home for “awesome, offbeat Jewish media” and will be regularly filled with original and kosher contest such as videos, games, stories, and blog posts.
Shmideo.com already has content up, currently aimed at the 18-30 demographic, and hopes to build a full-featured website for the whole family by the end of the year.
“No other site out there is exclusively devoted to funny, creative, authentically Jewish content,” says Taub, “and we want Shmideo to fill that role.”
Naiditch, put it more personally. “Many of us already spend a couple of hours a day going to funny websites and playing online games. Our goal is to make that time meaningful.”

I’m their bigest fan. this is great news.
I’m looking forward to seeing more and more from you all…it’s such a huge mitzvah to make Yidden b’simcha!!! Ya’asher koach and hatzlocha raba and all those other Jewish phrases that BT’s try so hard to learn and use them at the right time…..did I get it right?
pittsburgh rocks!
Mazal tov to the Shmideo creative team and to all of us, the happy recipients of your combined talents! Funny, profound, unique, kosher, entertaining learning like no one else can provide! We gave you money & we’ll give you more just like everyone should! If we all contribute, even the kids whose families donate the price of a DVD, we can make this thing fly! Let’s do it!
haha sounds cute! good luck!
My 6 year wants to know how we should give it to them?
hatzlacha!!
i cant wait to see it
Replies to #15 and #16, I read every piece of worthwhile jewish literature by 12 years old. Stuff like “Story of our people” needs to be re-formatted and made more accessible. Without even poking at the thousands of non jewish books produced EVERY month. Between my favorite authors of past you have some 500 books right there. Movies wise, there are dozens of highly inspirational “kosher” movies out there.. The only real book that I can think of, was Rabbi Lau’s book… we need hundreds of books like that. Entertainment in the non jewish sector is actually more educational than… Read more »
Errr… So Jewish Entertainment Enterprises has a more universal and fantastical flair?
The world has been waiting to long for this. Clever, witty Lubavitchers with universal appeal? Thank G-d!!
Why? Shmideo is a pretty memorable name – like “what’s the name of that funny Jewish site again? Oh yeah – shmideo.com. So easy to remember!”
r u going to upload videos on chabad.org?
In response to #12 I disagree with you. My kids have been watching itchy kadoozy since they were toddlers and always loved it! I think their point was its obviously for kids and even teens adults etc can enjoy it too!
lol
For something so fantastic, and universal – the name ‘Shmideo’ really drags it down. Why not a better sounding name?
If you want to fund the whole thing, just go onto their indiegogo page and enter in that amount. When I gave my 18 dollars, that’s what I did. No reason you can’t put in 10,000 if you want.
“Rabbi Rabbi Rabbi!”
I want my kids to grow up being totally chassidish and totally creative. This type of stuff is so necessary. Yasher Koach!
awesome i was waiting for this it can go so big
We like it, we want it, let’s get them off the ground! 1,000 people giving $10 and they’ve reached their goal.
Here is a classic R. M. Lehman (this story is also in one of the Storyteller books by R’ Nissan Mindel)…

Youre right! When it comes to lehavdil information about the world and limudei chol, there is lots of free, findable, things. It would be awesome to have more like this for Yiddishe Chassidisheh things, in english (or other langages most people know)! Even to hae just a collection of links to other sites! To start off, here a some: http://www.sichosinenglish.org/books/ =books from SIE to read online for free http://www.Chabad.org =Many stories, entertaining videos (even some by the people from shmideo!) http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/2197502/jewish/Contemporary-Works.htm =some more books, many also from SIE Add more in comments if you know of more good ones! And… Read more »
great video guys
If I am able to put up all the money how do I contact you?
First of all, you’re a mentsch for giving them money. I also made a donation. However…
You say that they will provide your kids w/ entertainment? The article said they are going for the 18-25 demographic. I don’t want you to be disappointed when they make a joke that isn’t really for your kids. I’m sure they will use chasidisher standards, just not necesaily for kids. I always thought that chabad.org misused itche kadoozie as a kids show when everyone knows it’s popular by the teens and 20-somethings crowds.
yo these chukers rule the world!!!
I donated the value of a DVD, because I know that their website will provide my children with hours of entertainment.
hope this works well!!
We need more… much much more.. from fiction / historical fiction / biography’s / real life story’s. Documentary’s, Movies etc.
We have nothing… Look at the past, when I was younger I devoured Marcus Lehman, jewish fiction today is pure trash.. Garbage… so the people have jewish names and its PG rated. But what was gained in education, character or any value ?
Awesome!!!!
Remember him from way back when, very articulate man, I’m sure he’ll come up with good stuff.
Blown!
it’s about time this happened.
Love them! Can’t wait for their new site! Hatzlacha raba!
This sounds amazing! Good luck
Looking forward to this website. We need some entertaining humorous Jewish content.
