Bais Menachem of Wilkes-Barre, PA recently welcomed the newest addition to their Yeshiva and Community: a beautiful Sefer Torah written by the Zafrany and Feibus families, in memory of Bob and Roz Kleinman.
There was a large attendance at the completion celebration, both from the community and the many guests who traveled in specially for the occasion.
The celebration began with the inscription of the final letters of the Torah at the Zafrani home with the sofer Rabbi Gad Sebag.
After the Sefer was completed, Rabbi Uri Perlman, Director of the Bais Menachem Youth Development Program, spoke about the representation of all Jews in the Torah, and how it is imperative to not only keep the Torah in its written form, but to practice it and educate today’s youth to be able to live its lessons.
The Sefer Torah was then accompanied to its intended place of use at the Yeshiva with a live band, torches and dancing through the streets, with senuir Shliach Rabbi Zvi Perlman leading the celebration.
Hakafos took place in the Yeshiva zal, which had been newly renovated with a new Aron for the occasion. A festive meal followed in a large tent pitched outside the Yeshiva.
Rabbi Pinny Levitin, Mashpia of the Yeshiva, expressed the hope that the Siyum Sefer Torah will encourage the learning of chitas and Rambam, and bring about the Siyum of Golus immediately.
