A group is being organized to visit the gravesite of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi in Ukraine for his 200th yartzeit this coming month.
Accompanying the group to Haditch will be Rabbi Leibel Groner who served as the Rebbe’s personal secretary for over 40 years and himself a descendant of the Alter Rebbe.
The group will be departing from JFK airport on Tuesday afternoon, January 1 and returning Sunday afternoon, January 6.
Weather permitting, the itinerary will include visits to the gravesites of the Maggid of Mezritch and Reb Zusha of Anipoli in Anipoli, the Baal Shem Tov in Mezhibuzh, Reb Levi Yitzchok of Berdichov in Berdichov and the Mitteler Rebbe in Niezhin.
They will arrive in Haditch late Thursday night and spend Shabbos there, as the actual yartzeit on 24 Teves will be on Motzoei Shabbos. Also arriving will be Rabbi Chaim Sholom Deitsch, Rosh Kollel Tzemach Tzedek in Jerusalem and several other mashpiim.
Farbrengens will take place in the newly completed Heichal Admur HaZaken, the hospitality center built by the late philanthropist Sami Rohr OBM.
They will depart to Kiev early Sunday morning and from there back to JFK.
Organizers said the price is not yet fixed as it depends on how many people will be joining. It will include airfare, travel expenses in Ukraine, 5 star accommodations, and food.

Agree the same is with most people who go to the ohel (in queens) for shabbos they dont go into the ohel but daven and farbreng near the ohel
1. The Kohanim can certainly be in the Heichal Admur HaZakein where the meals and farbrengens will take place. Davening may also take place there. In Mezhibuzh, there is a designated area for Kohanim. 2. This trip is only covering the Mekomos Hakdoshim in Ukraine. Rostov (and Lubavitch) are in Russia which would be a whole additional trip. 3. As far as I know, the minhag is not to actually go into the ohel on Shabbos. People go in before and after Shabbos (which is when the histalkus actually took place 200 years ago). On Shabbos the farbrengens and tefilos… Read more »
It would be great if they could find a way to visit Rostov on Don!
The rebbe never said the friediker rebbe is not at the ohel on shabbos he told 1 person in private that tzadikim are not at the ohel on shabbos and yom tov
So how did the miteler rebbe go to the alter rebbe on shabbos and yom tov?
PS chol hamoed/hoshana rabba is considered a yom tov and the rebbe did go to the ohel then as well as rosh chodesh
PPS do you go to the ohel ebery monday and thursday since that is what the rebbe did?
Also instructed a Shul be built at the Alter Rebbe’s Ohel and Davening to take place there all year round.
The difference is that we have the example of the Mitteler Rebbe spending a Tishrei @ the Alter Rebbes Ohel. On the other hand the Rebbe NEVER spent a Shabbos at the Ohel and in fact stated that the Frierdiker Rebbe is in 770 on Shabbos.
Too bad Kohanim have to miss out on such an uplifting trip.
YES!
so people wont go to the rebbes ohel for shabbos but they will go to the alter rebbes ohel for shabbos? whatsthe difference?
It will be a wealth of information, and should be very moving… IY”H
Rabbi Groner is very special, this trip with him will be unique!

I wish I could go!
May Hashem Yisborech accept it as if we have already travelled, davened and farbrenged there and may Moshiach come already with Techias Hamaissim of our Holy Rebbeim long before 24 Teiveis, Now Mamosh! Amain!
