Monday morning, 2 Kislev, marked the Shloshim of Reb Moshe Abelsky, a”h with Siyums in Mishnayos and a the beginning of the writing of a new Sefer Torah.
R’ Moshe was a dear member of Oholei Torah staff and was beloved by the hundreds of students he greeted every day.
At a rally of the school’s students, Menachem Mendel Abelsky, his youngest son, a student in in Oholei Torah, made a Siyum on the 6 Sidrei Mishanyos with Rabbi Fisher. This was followed by a seudas mitzvah with Rabbis Goldstein and Bryski. Rabbi Goldman also made a siyum on Mesachtas Yuma.
The Shloshim continued with a Siyum Mishnayos by student Isaac Gershon Abelsky, a student in shiur Gimmel Mesifta Oholei Torah, where Rabbi Wilhelm spoke to the talmidim. A seudah and farbrengen followed with Rabbi Geisinsky and Rabbi Yisroel Greenberg, a close friend of Reb Moshe.
The Hascholas Sefer Torah event was held in the Zal-Beis Medrash of Oholei Torah with close to a thousand students from grades 2-8 attending together with family and friends of Reb Moshe.
Rabbi Sholom Goldstein emceed the event with the establishment of “Vishinantam” a learning program started in seventh grade that will continue throughout the school.
Rabbi Tefenbrum led the Talmidim with 12 Psukim and letters in the Sefer Torah were written by the Yeshiva Rabeim, Mispalilim of Reb Michoel’s Minyan and friends of Moshe.
The Torah campaign is being spearheaded by Mendy Yadgar and Dovi Chaimson, close friends and mispalilim of Reb Michoels Minyan, where Reb Moshe davened.
