A group of special needs youths and elderly residents gathered in a Crown Heights home for an evening of entertainment on Wednesday.
The “simcha event” was one of many organized by Mrs. Devorah Scheiner at homes in Crown Heights.
It began with soothing music from a string quartet that included a violin, cello and flute played by Yitzchok Hurwitz and Yonasan Rothman.
Later, singer Dovid Stein and Boruch Sholom Blesofsky, accompanied by Shimmy Tevel on the keyboard, sang some favorite Jewish classics. They were joined by the boys with special needs.
The program also included a dvar Torah by Oholei Torah mashpia Rabbi Michoel Seligson and an inspirational story and slideshow presented by Naiman Elbaz.
“Everyone enjoyed every minute of it, and we are grateful to the hosts and all those who volunteered their time to make this event so special,” said Scheiner, whose charitable activities also include food distribution before holidays.
