Registration for the International Kinus Hashluchim, an annual convention of Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchim, has opened Sunday.
Thousands are once again expected to participate in the 4-day get together that begins Wednesday night, 23 Cheshvan 5773 – November 7, 2012 in Brooklyn, NY.
The online registration this year gives participants the option to pay the nominal fee of $36 and add a “participating amount” of their choosing, in addition to signing up for workshops and lectures or requesting sleeping accommodations.
The Gala Banquet, one of the most moving and glitzy evenings in the Chabad movement, will be taking place Sunday, 27 Cheshvan – November 11, at the Pier 12 Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook, striking to the same location “for easy access and comfort for the Shluchim and their Guests.”
Organizers of the Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch notified that banquet seats will be open and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats closer to the rotating podium –once again to be placed in middle of the ballroom– will be sold for an additional price.
Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos who organizes the kinus, has notified Monday that three individuals will be addressing the Gala Banquet, expected to be filled with over 4,500 people.
Rabbi Ari Shishler, Director of Chabad of Strathavon, South Africa, will represent his fellow shluchim and deliver the keynote address.
Rabbi Shishler, along with his wife Naomi, founded the Chabad Center in Strathavon — a neighborhood of Johannesburg — in 1999. Their center has since grown exponentially, bringing the light of Torah and Chassidus to many thousands in Srathavon and beyond.
He will be appearing alongside Mr. Steven Solarsh, a prominent entrepreneur, founding member and supporter of Chabad of Strathavon and a donor to the English-language Chayenu weekly learning publication.
The guest speaker will be Rabbi Yisroel Meir Lau, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, Chairman of Yad Vashem holocaust museum in Jerusalem and former Chief Rabbi of Israel.
Rabbi Lau will share inspirational moments of his longtime and special relationship with the Rebbe during his decades-long service in the Israeli Rabbinate, Merkos said.
you cute though i find you extremely ignorant!
Ari and Naomi – humble, “chesedik” hard working and extremely capable shluchim whose goodness shines through all their efforts. Naomi, who left the comforts and support of her equally “chesedik” Pittsburgh family at eighteen to brave the “wilds of Africa” has risen, along with her husband, to the numerous challenges they face in South Africa. Kudos to them both and much continued success!!
And Rabbi Lau – just read his book. Incredible story – incredible human being!
the podium or the surrounding tables?
Also, it might be a good idea to have the tables turning – in addition to the podium, so as the podium is turning one way – the tables are turning the other way, and then everyone can see at the same time.
Go Ari and Naomi! U deserve this!
After last year’s speaker (Rabbi J. Sacks) I couldn’t imagine how they’d top it next year. Rabbi Lau is going to be great. Now I ask again, how in the world will they follow it next year.
When I saw that Rabbi Lau is speaking I though that I couldn’t be more excited but I found out that Rabbi Shishler will be delivering the key note! He is unparalleled in our age! Mazal tov!
I’ve met Rabbi Lau personally as he and his wife were guests in our home when he was spending Shabbos in our community. He is an incredible man and you have made an excellent choice. In preparation for the kinnus and Rabbi Lau’s speech, I would highly recommend reading his book of memoirs called, “Out of the Depths.” It will make you appreciate him so much more when you hear his powerful speech.
is the best choice!!!!!!!!! whoever picked him should get a free seat at the kinus!!!!!!!!!!
is the best choice!!!!!!!!!
Great choice!!! Ari Shishler will amaze the crowd no doubt!
Remembering the good old days from Kfar, Ari will go down a treat. Excellent choice. Mazel tov!!
