Hundreds of the Jewish community in Flatbush, Brooklyn, took to the streets this past Sunday to take part in a most joyous celebration, a Hachnosas Sefer Torah.
The Torah was to be given to Mayan Yisroel, a unique community center located on 3307 Ave. N under the dynamic leadership of Rabbi Yosef Vigler.
As the many participants of the event have shown, the center’s dozens of spiritual and educational programs have won over the hearts of many in the community.
Donating the Torah were Rabbi and Mrs. Shlomo Baum, parents of Cheski Baum, longtime member of the Mayan Yisroel Center.
The event was honored to have the presence of prominent guests such as the Bostoner Rebbe of Flatbush R’ Pinchas Duvid Horowitz, and Rabbi Mordechai Gurary, Rav of Chevra Shas of Crown Heights.
The Sefer Torah was written in Israel by Rabbi Penson of Kfar Chabad. Rabbi Ungar of Boro Park completed the final letters.
The joyous occasion included an elaborate float filled with young children, and illuminated with torches. Energizing the crowd with heartfelt niggunim were singers Dovid Stein, Michoel Pruzansky and Mendy Worch.
Adults and children got a chance to kiss the newly written Sefer Torah, then they gathered for joyous hakafos inside the shul.
we r so proud of this rav probably one of the best shluchim
No evidence of any Bostoner Rebbe in the the pictures. Perhaps he’s being confused with the Naroler Rebbe, who appears in 4 photos.
He is one of our best teachers in sem!
Yossi Vigler is one of the best shluchim out there.
