On Sunday, July 15 over 60 adults and children gathered at Dovercourt Park to participate in the Ottawa Friendship Circle’s “Wheel, Walk, Ride or Run.”
Program Coordinators Mrs. Meira Dachevsky and Esther Caytak organized a walk around the park, a delicious barbecue, a fun carnival with activities for all ages and a juggler who juggled with fire.
The weather was very hot, but that did not deter the crowd from attending the walkathon.
Friendship Circle matches teenage and university age volunteers with families who have a child with special needs. This magnificent program offers respite to the families, offers a valuable volunteer opportunity to the students and most importantly offers friendship to a child that has many doctors and or therapists in his/her life, but needs a friend.
Dr. Yosef and Devora Caytak, co-directors of the Jewish Youth Library, which runs Friendship Circle, said that this walkathon provided an opportunity for the community to find out about this fabulous program.
“This program is the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, which makes the world a better place to live in,” said Mrs. Caytak.
