Statement from Vincent Martinos of the 71st Precinct – Community Affairs of the New York City Police Department:
The 71 Precinct was seen a slight increase in crime over the past few weeks.
Overall violent crime is way down but we are seeing alarming increases in IDENTITY THEFT and CELL PHONE snatches from persons.
We are also seeing late model Nissan cars particularly Maxima’s tires being stolen. Three in the past month. We urge anyone with a Nissan to invest in tire locks to avoid becoming a victim.
Please read the attachments below on how to protect yourself and forward to everyone to help the NYPD keep the city safe.
Where are these statistics coming from? Just this past Friday and Shabbos alone gunshots were fired right in Crown Heights on President street.
its a suggestion, they’re not going to kill yopu if you do.
There was a drive by shooting last shabbos right near children playing out side shul R”L. BH no one was hurt, but it was traumatic.
Why do we have to live in fear? Let the cops do their job, install surveilance cameras, arrest everyone found with drugs, or a knofe or gun – don’t tell me there’s no room for them – lock them up in the local public school for all I care – just get the thugs off the streets!
what do they want from us!!!!!!!!
i had no idea
Are they not embarrassed to tell us to not walk in the street with our phones????? What is this some third world country. I mean it just might be with King bloomberg at its helm.
this is something that should definitely be brought back in ny
When walking on a brightly lit street in groups with all your valuables safe at home close.your eyes and say, baaaa and accept that you much like a sheep have no say in your life. Rather its all up to someone else to keep you safe
