Terrorized Children Visit Denmark

For the 4th time in as many years, a group of children from the terrorized area of Sderot, Israel, visited Denmark, and joined Chabad of Denmark’s summer camp.

The children, who all live in Sderot, are selected based on their family and home situation. A number of the childrens are orphans, and many have difficult home situations.

The trip, which is arranged on the Sderot end by the local Shliach Rabbi Pizam, is organized and sponsored by ChabaDanmark and its supporters.

Rabbi Yitzi Loewenthal, the local Shliach, explains: “We are happy to do this, as it is a great experience for these kids, and at the same time it adds to our camp. It is also an opportunity to involve people who may otherwise not be involved in regular Chabad activities, who are happy to help with this project.”

Loewenthal reports that a number of local organizations have undertaken sponsoring a child or a part of the camp, such as WIZO, the local Jewish community, The Polish Jewish Club and others.

The children participate in trips, activities, shiurim, sports and drama as they partake in the 10 day camp for local Jewish children. The camp is followed by a day camp in Copenhagen.

The group from Israel was led by S. Hecht and D. Bardugu. The counselors in the camp are C. M. Rodal, R. Spangenthal, D. Pearl, C. Cohen C. Dinnerman and S. Meron.
