Mrs. Fruma Shapiro, the Shlucha in the North Shore of Sydney in Australia, will be delivering the keynote address at the upcoming 5772 International Kinus Hashluchos, the annual convention of Chabad rebbetzins.
Shapiro, known for her classes and her approachable and personable character, will be focusing her speech on the theme “Es Geit a Chossid” (here goes a chossid) at the gala banquet of the Kinus on Sunday, February 19.
The Kinus, organized by Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch and coordinated by a committee of Shluchos, will be held in Crown Heights, near Lubavitch World Headquarters 770.
Shapiro, daughter of Sydney’s Head Shluchim Rabbi Pinchos and Penina Feldman, trained as a teacher in Melbourne and New York.
In 1989, as a newly married couple, the Rebbe sent Fruma and her husband Rabbi Nochum Shapiro to St Ives, a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales.
They arrived with enthusiasm, determined to spread Yiddishkeit and have a positive effect on people’s lives, setting out to enrich Jewish life and the Jewish community on the North Shore.
Mrs. Shapiro runs the Women’s Division and Social Services at the Chabad House, teaching pre- and post-Bas Mitzvah lessons, giving shiurim to women of any age, fielding calls from parents in her preschool, and counseling visitors in need of guidance or a listening ear.
