This past Monday at Yeshivas Tiferes Bachurim in Morristown, New Jersey at the Rabbinical College of America over 25 bachurim received rewards for learning all about Pesach. The mivtza which was run by the Bachurim Shluchim of the Yeshiva spearheaded by Shlomo Leib Goldman. Starting on TU B’Shevat, the mivtza was a 6 week mivtza trying to cover as much of possible of Hilchos Pesach.
There was two levels, the lower level which primary source of material was Shevach Hamoadim, and the higher level which primary source material was the Alter Rebbe’ Shulchan Aruch Chelek Gimmel.
The first two weeks everyone learnt about: Bedikas Chometz.
Week 3 was Hagalas keilm, which also featured a special shiur from Rabbi Ganz, one of the Roshei Yeshivas in Tomchei Teimim, Morristown.
Week 4, 5 and 6, was all about the Seder. Bachurim learnt simanim תעב and תעג in the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch. A special shiur was given from Rabbi Schapiro from Machon S’micha in Morristown to the bachurim of Tiferes speaking about different shaalos that one can encounter either at home or on Shlichus during the Seder.
Rabbi Brafman, one of Tiferes’s own rabbis led a model seder showing all our minhagim regarding the seder and how it’s done.
At the end of each week, each bachur was given a written test based on that week’s learning and shiurim. Those that did week received a sefer at the end, on this past Monday. As well as a chance to win the grand prize.
This past Monday was the closing cememorines for everything. Rabbi Dubinsky the Rosh Yeshiva spoke about the importance of hachana for a Yom Tov. All who did well on the tests (passing each test with at least a 70% received a sefer), their choices were the Rebbe’s 2 Vol. Hagada from Kehos, the newly reprinted Haemelech B’Mesibo or the Rebbe’s Hagadah in English.
Over $850 was given out in Seforim to all the bachurim.
In addition there was also a grand prize consisting of a set of Nitei Gavriel and the Sefer Chag HaMatzos. Rabbi Hershel Lipsker was chosen to be the guest to draw the grand prize. The winner? Alon Simon, an Israeli bachur who just about 30 minutes before the raffle left to Prague for Merkos Shlichus for Pesach.
A special thanks to all who donated money for the mivtza, as well as time and energy that was also donated. The grand prize was donated by Sosover Seforim in Crown Heights.
