A group of Crown Heights residents have donated a new Sefer Torah to the Misaskim organization which will be delivered to Shiva homes around New York City.
It will be the 20th Torah to be put in use by the non-profit which assists families and individuals in times of tragedy and death. They famously provide Shiva chairs, siddurim and other items for Shiva homes.
COLlive was told that what was donated was a small Torah so it can be easily transported to homes and it was donated by a donor who requested his name remained unidentified.
Rabbi Zirkind, who made a living as a bookkeeper for Associated Beth Rivkah Schools, faithfully served the Crown Heights community with his extensive knowledge in halacha until his tragic and sudden passing at the age of 57.
“The donor is backed by a few people who felt that there is no better way to honor such a talmid chochom than writing a sefer torah as a tribute to him,” said Suri Roth, Communications Coordinator at Misaskim.
“They opted on providing this through Misaskim since it’s sure to be used on a constant basis in shiva homes,” she added. “We are confident that the assistance the sefer torahs will provide aveilim will be a great zchus to the donors, the rav obm and all of Klal Yisroel.”
I hope that they have asked either his father Sheyichye or one of his brothers that are sofrim to write it. that would be the appropiate & proper thing to do

Since he assisted in the Beis Din, a number of Anash took it upon themselves to enhance the Kovod of the Beis Din in his honor and zchus.
The greatest honor of the beis din is when they are united and rule by their united majority.
