The offices of Lubavitch Youth Organization (“Tzach”) were busy. Rabbis and community leaders of New York City’s Five Boros were calling. They all had one request, “Please do not forget us.” They wanted a delegation of Lubavitcher Chassidim to visit their Shul on Simchas Torah.
The results were phenomenal. More than 2500 chassidim marched to over 350 shuls to help bring more joy to thousands of Jews. Special efforts were made that each Shul should be contacted.
The participants marched to Queens (3 hours each way), Howard Beach, (3 hours) Flatbush, Boro Park, Brighton Beach, Sea Gate (close to 3 hours) Lower and Upper East Side and West Side of Manhattan, Bronx (3.5 hours) Bensonhurst, Canarsie, Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Greenpoint and Roosevelt Island.
Added this year was the publication by the Lubavitch Youth Organization of a special Kovetz (booklet) with many sichos of the Rebbe in which the Rebbe emphasizes the significance of participating in a Tahalucha.
The publication, diligently prepared by the organizers, was very well received. It added more participants and contributed greatly to the success of the Tahaluchos. It also helped facilitate the addition of several new areas.
After yomtov, many shuls called and emailed thanks for making the Simchas Torah so much more meaningful for them.
In many communities they were asked to speak about the significance of the day. Many Rabbis exclaimed that “without Lubavitch the Yom Tov would not be the same” and expressed their appreciation to the Lubavitch movement. “Lubavitch is growing, always adding in light and joy,” said a thankful shul president.
In many shuls the marchers were asked to “Come back tomorrow” for the day Hakofos.
“You see here the dedication and Mesirus Nefesh, self-sacrifice, of Lubavitcher Chassidim to inconvenience themselves to a great extend only to fulfill the wish of the Rebbe,” said Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Director Lubavitch Youth Organization. “Lubavitch is not only alive, Lubavitch prospers and expands as the Tahaluchos (marches) become bigger and bigger each year.”
The Tahaluchos-Marches were organized by Rabbi Yossi Butman who arranged the marches together with Rabbi Yosef Goldwasser and Avrohom Reichick, who worked diligently and efficiently for the success of the Tahaluchos-Marches.
The Marches were arranged with the cooperation of the Police Department as the Rebbe has instructed many times. There were special meetings and updated maps to coordinate all details.
“The cooperation of the Police Department was phenomenal,” said Rabbi Yossi Butman. “They acted with friendship and dedication, responsibility and efficiency. They were a pleasure to work with.”
This was indeed a joint effort of many who united in a great task to bring an additional dimension of Simchas (joy of) Yom Tov to thousands of Jews.

what the bochrim acomplished by just walking to Queens and back. Though, it would be nice to come to a open shul and not be send to a place which whas closed down 2 years ago.

An additional 50 (or so) Shuls were visited by Bochurim staying at the Rebbe’s Ohel for Yom Tov. They, as well, were very pleased and thankful to the Bochurim.
