The sacred practice of Bris Milah has come under fire in countries such as Germany, Scandinavia, Norway, Finland and Denmark, but that wasn’t the difficulty Mr. Gennadiy Bogolyubov faced when his son was born.
It was the know-how that he was missing earlier this year.
In his daily studies over the phone with his teacher, Rabbi DovBer Pinson, director of IYYUN Center in Brownstone Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Bogolyubov expressed his wish for deeper knowledge behind the circumcision of an 8-day old baby.
The two began learning the subject, with the Ukrainian Jewish billionaire receiving a wealth of information and insights about the tradition from Rabbi Pinson, world renowned scholar and Kabbalist.
During one call, Mr. Bogolyubov pondered aloud that there was a need for this deeper knowledge to be available to anyone who is ‘making a bris’ and wants to understand it and experience it in a way that resonates and inspires.
Rabbi Pinson, who has already authored over 16 books, began writing one on the deeper meaning of the Bris Milah and the importance of this Mitzvah that goes back to the first Jew.
Weaving together countless sources, ranging from scientific to Kabbalistic, the work resulted in the 72 page “A Bond for Eternity – Bris Milah,” illuminating the Mitzvah in a unique way.
Rabbi Pinson presented the book at the Bris Milah ceremony Mr. Bogolyubov held for his son in London, England, this past February. He also had it translated into Russian and copies of the book, both in English and Russian were distributed to all the guests at the Bris.
The book is now available for purchase on Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and leading Jewish bookstores, as well as a Kindle and Nook version. (To order this, or any of Rav Pinson’s books, in bulk, email contact@iyyun.com).
The beauty and relevance of the Mitzvah connecting Jews to G-d shines through this work, illuminating the import of the Bris Milah and its place in the 21st century, as much now, and perhaps more, than ever.
And it could not have come at a better, more opportune time when the Mitzvah has even become controversial in Israel, where over the past decade, many more parents have decided to forego circumcision for numerous reasons.
Beautiful to look at and a pleasure to read, the book also includes a practical guide on how to prepare for a Bris. It makes a wonderful baby gift – and is an essential part of any comprehensive library of sefarim.
Just purchased… and added what appeared to be a nice book on Kaddish listed there, as well

Let’s face it, if you are asked to name one chabad teacher or mashpia that can guide you in the real world based on chasidus who will it be? There are many inspirational teachers, but when the inspiration fades away, what are you left with? If chasidus is real, let us respect those who teach it that way.
