Fully Restored From the Fire

150 young children returned to learning in Educational Institute Oholei Torah’s East Flatbush division after their building was totally burnt down in a devastating two alarm fire, just over a year ago.

With smiling faces and great excitement, they entered the campus for the first time, and saw the new vibrant colors, state of the art equipment, spacious bright rooms and so much more.

The Morahs and staff members, headed by Morah Faige Winner-Hertzel, could not believe the transformation of their beloved campus, and how it was done in such a short amount of time.

Rabbi Sholom Rosenfeld, Director, said that once the finishing touches are completed there will be an open house for the entire community.

Rabbi Joseph Rosenfeld, Executive Director, who spearheaded the project, said the new campus is built on the foundations mesirus nefesh of Reb Michoel Teitelbaum OBM who held on to the Shul in East Flatbush against all odds.

“The campus represents the future our community holds, in expanding the educational facilities to hold the many young children wanting to join the ranks of Oholei Torah talmidim, and giving them the most modern and up-to-date facilities to excite them as they nurture into their beginning chinuch and the world of chassidus,” he said.

When the building campaign began, the members of the Executive Board saw that even though the insurance monies would cover the re-building to its original state, yet to have a most productive, wholesome and complete educational center much more is needed, which needed to includ 3 more classrooms, central air and heat and a new Rooftop, with 3500 square feet of open space, which will hold state-of-the-art playground areas and recreational activities.

A professional interior designer was hired to oversee that the décor of the building would enhance the atmosphere and flow.

Due to the great urgency of re-building and having the children return to their surroundings as soon as possible, many of the community members have shown their support of this project plus additional monies were borrowed to have the center open. During the upcoming months a building campaign will be headed to cover the outstanding costs of this project.
