Since the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported about the IRS troubles of our Yeshiva Achei Tmimim synagogue and Yeshiva Academy day school in Worcester, Massachusetts, we have been humbled by an amazing show of support.
We have received calls from alumni and supporters from all over the world asking how they can help.
These are people who recognize the Yeshiva’s contributions to their own lives and the lives of countless others over the past 70 years, and they want this tradition to continue. Like us, they cannot imagine Worcester without the Yeshiva.
As many of you know, the IRS seized the building at 22 Newton Avenue and is holding an auction next week. We have been working hard to secure funds in order to divert this action.
Though this action is a threat to our building, it has not dampened our commitment and resolve to persevere. The Yeshiva has served the Jewish community of Worcester and the surrounding communities for over seventy years and will continue to do so. It is a beacon of light… the center of Jewish education and commitment to Jewish pride and continuity.
Yeshiva was one of the first day schools established by the Previous Rebbe. It is responsible for establishing six Chabad houses in Central Massachusetts. Yeshiva reaches out to new unaffiliated families now more than ever before. It is now an established presence as Chabad on Campus at Clark and WPI.
We are enthused and committed about our future. The only bump in the road is the IRS. Please make a donation at savetheyeshiva.com and call a friend or alert any alumni to help us with this emergency.
Sincerely,
Mendel Fogelman
Director

There is no out-of-town city like Worcester!!! I love the Yeshiva
and have the best memories from going to school there. The community may be smaller, but the Fogelmans are still there,
Keeping Chabad open as they have done for 70 years. From strength to strength!!!!
i grew up in worcester and i must say my education there has helped me get a finamonial job. i am going to give every penny possible to help keep yeshiva alive
I think 15 means the first building Lubavitch built in America
The purchase of 770 also pre dates the Worcester building but to actually build a building from the ground up Worcester is the first
After Tomchei Tmimim came to NY 1940 Worcester’s was the first building to be built as a Tomchei or Achei Timimim. Ground breaking was about 1956-57.It was ready Sept.1959.Rabbi Fogelman and several baal habatim went to the Rebbe in the early stages of planing, to receive the Rebbes brochos and advice. From what I heard the Rebbe asked where is the lunch room going to be located.
Alumni.
#15 is correct. Not first Lubavitch moised. First buliding BUILT for Lubavitch! Quite a distinction.
The good ole days with Rabbis Gordon, Smetana, Konikov, Fishman, to name a few. I got a great and open education there!
Spent my best years there! Davening..
I don’t think you are correct. The shul, anshei lubavitch in fairlawn NJ predates the Rebbe’s nisious and i beleive is the oldest running lubavitch moised in the states.
Gotto luv worcester though, the impact to so many is unparrelled.
This is the first building built for Lubavitch in the USA, and the IRS want to auction it off next week CHV!!
Perhaps the editors should change the headline to reflect this
This is 70 years of Shlichus beginning from the FReidiker Rebbe that has had a far reaching affect on many.
People who have been there say there is nothing like it. Everyone wants to go back, and everyone speaks with warmth about the founders of the Chabad community there. Rabbi and Rebbetzin are people of excellence. Many alumni and friends of the Worcester Yeshiva are still in contact with their mentors and know the Fogelman’s house number by heart. Where else can one claim such a warm attachment to?
I have never met such menschlich, warm, intelligent, dignified, and forward thinking people. They have done a phenomenal job in their many years on Shlichus and have never lost their focus for personal gain. We sincerely hope and pray this will work out.
I am not from Worcester but I have been a personal friend to Mendel Fogelman and Levi Liberow for many years. They are both very capable people and I have seen them in action. They can overcome this challenge together.
warmest, nicest, most sincere community

Wherever you go in the world you will always
