Have you ever wondered what, exactly, would be lacking from Judaism if Chasidus Chabad had never been revealed?
On Monday night at Chabad of Hillside New Jersey, Rabbi Chaim Miller, addressed this intriguing question with British wit, drawing on a vast knowledge of Chassidus and other schools of thought.
After sharing stories from his personal journey to Chabad, Rabbi Miller explained why the Alter Rebbe offered a more challenging, complex and nuanced approach to reaching G-d than anything that had proceeded. He also gave practical tips on how to put Chabad wisdom into practice.
“He’s the best speaker we’ve ever had,” commented shliach Rabbi Avremi Kanelsky, in a moment of excitement after the talk.
“I will be telling this over to my son,” said Mrs. Basya Hyams. “It’s simple enough to remember, but powerful enough to explain to a ten year old boy what Chassidus is.”

Part 2:
The Baal Shem Tov passed in 1760, the Alter Rebbe passed away in 1812, and R’ Yisrael Salanter passed away in 1883, so I don’t think you meant to say R’ Salanter. He promoted mussar long after the life of the Alter Rebbe.

Rabbi Miller, very inspiring speech. But if you don’t mind , who was the Shliach that told the boy, go back to Baltimore? It doesn’t sound like something the Shliach of the Rebbe that was in Baltimore at that time would say.
