Torah Day School 501(c)(3), the shining star of Houston’s Chabad community, is the Pre-school grade day school in Texas. Made up of an amazing student and teacher body, Torah Day School prides itself on the education and values it instills, not just in the students, but for all of its families.
TDS has never turned anyone away for financial reasons. But today, like people everywhere, it is feeling the stains of a sluggish economy and financial difficulties. To enable students to become active and successful participants in their world, TDS recognizes that the students must be technologically knowledgeable. Realizing that its computer lab is ancient at best, TDS, as it teaches its students, became creative in finding a solution! TDS decided to embrace all technology has to offer and embarked on its first ever “crowd funding” campaign!
Through Indiegogo.com, TDS went live to raise $10,000 dollars in 60 days for the purchase of 15 computers and 2 laptops. Where a few weeks ago crowd funding was a novel concept, now the school and community are excited about this new endeavor. Everyone is involved, from students who will personally write thank you notes to contributors, to parents and teachers who are spreading the word to everyone they know.
