“Ask the Rabbi” forums are available all over the web in most common languages, but a chance to stump a Chief Rabbi does not come everyday for high school students.
For pupils of Ecole de Garcons Loubavitch, a Chabad boys school in Paris, a visit this week by Rabbi Gilles Bernheim, a philosopher who serves as Chief Rabbi of France, provided that setting.
He addressed the curious boys following a guided tour through the school with its Director Rabbi Binyomin Mergui and Rabbi Messod Touboul, Director of the Chaya Mushka Education Complex and a close friend of his.
Head Shliach Rabbi Shmuel Azimov, who oversees the school and recently lost his wife, was not able to attend.
We were not told what questions students presented to Rabbi Bernheim, only that he spent a full hour answering and addressing their doubts and concerns.
