The idea should not be a novelty, but the event is a first. Chol Hamoed Sukkos will see the “Night Owls” and “The Moshe Hecht Band” take the stage, along with other homegrown acts in the first ever Keren Simchas Chosson V’kalah Fundraiser Concert in Crown Heights.
The Night Owls are a very unique and entertaining band, formed by Bachurim in Crown Heights, squeezing in their rehearsals and recordings in between “seder” and farbrengens. Their combination of Chassidic Spirit together with a wide array of popular music styles, has already fascinated audiences and accumulated many fans.
The event is also taking place in conjunction with “The Creative Soul” a recently created movement, “Dedicated to emerging chassidic artists in sharing their unique talents and vision with the world,” as described by its director, Rabbi Yitzchak Moully.
Amidst the Night Owls’ arrangements of releasing their EP, they felt a necessity to give something to the community from which they emerged. From there the idea was almost obvious. Put together a concert in which its proceeds go to K.S.C.V.K. Phone calls were made, emails were exchanged and the event was a go. Keren Simchas Chosson V’Kallah, a well known community organization, helps needy couples with wedding expenses. The organizaton runs on an annual budget of roughly $700,000 and the absolutely tireless work of its director, Mrs. Devorah Benjamin, in helping out the community in any and every which way possible.
Performing along with the Night Owls will be “Generation 7” and Yaakov Robin, also bands created by young Lubavitchers. Adding to the fun will be Nissen Weisman and Shmuly Mendelson with great music of their own.
Also gracing the event will be a special appearance by Moshe Hecht, who’s been inspiring and entertaining crowds with his soulful and exciting vibe throughout the trig-state area and across the country.
A fantastic musical lineup, the holiday of Sukkos, and all in support of such a worthy cause, promises to be a very enjoyable evening!
The concert is scheduled for Thursday Night October 4th 2012 (second night of Chol Hamoed.)
