Toronto Jews gathered at Toronto City Hall for a Chanukah celebration.
A crowd gathered to watch as an ice menorah was carved and then lit on Nathan Philips Square in front of Toronto’s “New City Hall.”
The Menorah was lit by Toronto Head Shliach Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum.
This Menorah lighting was in addition to the 20 foot decorative menorah that stood in the square during the entire Chanukah.
Some 400 people ate latkes and donuts, drank hot chocolate, danced and sang to the music of Yehoshuah Lev-Ner and watched a show by “Curcus Jonathan.”
Each participant received a decorative scarf/shawl to keep them
warm in the frigid Canadian air.
The entire program was organized by Esther Steinmetz for Chabad Lubavitch of Ontario.
