Several vehicles on Montgomery Street in Crown Heights, between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues, have had their tires slashed on the rear curb side with an unknown object on Sunday night.
Community Affairs of the New York City Police Department 71st Precinct has asked anyone with information to call 718-735-0501.
“The case will be referred to Hate Crimes Task Force because of the location and past history of similar crimes,” P.O. Vincent Martinos notified.
In response, the Office of Victim Services Desk at the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council has announced that seniors who have been victims of any crime, including tire slashings of their vehicles, may be eligible for compensation from NY State.
Children can also get compensation for lost bikes and infants for lost strollers, the council said. Ages 18-60 are not eligible for compensation unless they were injured.
To file for the compensation, bring the incident number you were given by the police officer who investigated your crime and come in to 387 Kingston Ave or call 718-771-9000 x7722.
Doesn’t sound like they were beaten up by the police.
Quick giving tax payer handouts and start fighting crime. The criminals should pay for the damage, not the taxpayers.
