After two years spent as resident nomads in Crown Heights, the vibrant Chevra Ahavas Yisroel shul now has its very own space to call home.
The chanukas habayis on Sunday, December 9, the first day of Chanukah, coincided with a siyum sefer Torah donated by the Sidof family and dedicated in memory of their mother, Simcha bas Shlomo OBM.
Family members, friends, and Ahavas Yisroel members joyfully danced with the Torah down Albany Ave to the Maple St Shul, where they danced hakofos and lit a public menorah.
At the celebratory dinner, Rabbi Chezzi Denebeim thanked the shul’s generous donors and all of the many volunteers who have, and continue “to make Chevra Ahavas Yisroel so so magical.”
“We’re stoked to be moving into our new home this Shabbos,” says Rabbi Denebeim, “and we’re ever grateful for the love and support we get from friends and family in this community and all over the world.”
Chezzy Denenbaum AND Refael Foli Tessler started this amazing shul … they saw the need and acted upon it and work hard constantly for it…..
Love You FOLI ! You make me so proud my big little brother ( so proud even that this is the 4th article ever on COL Ive dared read… and first Ive commented on…. 😉 In your honor )
Hashem should Bless you cos you deserve Only Revealed Immediate Good… HE should smile upon you always :)))<3
Love You Neomi Gniwisch
could CAY have the same appeal if instead of Carlebach, they sang with Niggunim or other Jewish tunes? only the Rebbe could convert the French anthem. i don’t think anyone but a Rebbe can elevate Carlebach.
whatever you claim or not about the shul… I love the Rabbi!!
frere jacques
I love this shul and i’m happy for them. mazal tov for your new place may you have lots of simchas in there.
this is the only shul i go to whenever i visit crown heights. its the only place where i feel truly welcome, and the atmosphere is amazing. just a group of a bunch of people who, through singing, truly find an enjoyment in davending to hashem. i wish them much success!
without a doubt, one of my favorite minyanim in the whole world!!! b’hatlacha!
SRULY C YOU ARE SPOT ON ,ANYBODY WHO ARGUES WITH YOU SHOWS THAT THEY DONT KNOW THE REBBES OPINION ON THIS SUBJECT
AND TO NUMBER 14 PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURE NUMBER 1 ,YOU MIGHT SEE IT THEN
Like all what i am seeing… besides the round Menorah. If people would learn that sichah I dont think they would have the guts to Draw paint…. any type of round Menorah
But this shul looks great the torah is Wow!!!
Kudos to our beloved Rabbi and “spiritual” leader, the chassid who gave us back Shabbos ,as a real time of rejoicing together as one people! May he continue to go from strength to strength in his very important mission. And we will all be there with him and The Rebbe will continue to smile upon us. This I feel with all my heart…
AWESOME & MAZEL TOV!!!
The Rebbe quotes in that Sicha, that even stationary with a round Menora should be changed.
Your ignorance is very noticeable!!
Thank you so much for publishing a photo album that truly raises the bar in so many ways- these images are stunning!!! I know when it comes time to hire a local photographer, I am going to consider talent, artistic vision, and the sort of passion that’s required to capture emotion so beautifully above all else, and I can only hope that I can own some original Blumes photos before they’re worth a million dollars…
I see Yossi and Mendee Hayward!
To 45, It doesnt matter how old you are, you dont have to be a certain age to attend a shul to daven,
Go Fitch BenShimon!! CAY wouldn’t be the same without you!!
you use your talents in a humble way to always help out. Music at the events (was awesome!!) and your beautiful voice on shabbos.
These are quite possibly the most beautiful images I have ever seen on COL Live. Our other neighborhood photographers should be taking notes- Chana Blumes doesn’t use an expensive camera to justify charging a fortune for perfunctory photographs. Through a combination of hard work, dedication, and raw talent, she has cultivated a unique vision and signature style that allow her to share the FEEL of an event. This is no small feat, and it’s amazing to see this from such a young and kindhearted photographer. I have no doubt that she will go on to do great things! She’s already… Read more »
GO CHONI!!! Nice!!
I daven every shabbos in CAY, I was at the hachnosas sefer torah and the dinner and I never saw a round menorah. It’s amazing what happens when people search for something negative.
Awesome. So glad i was there
thats total nonsense! learn the sicha again
That’s only regarding the menorah of the temple not every menorah.go learn instead of being in the internet
we need such a shull for the older generation.
i have davened there is has a great atmosphere.
lets get something going for the 45s plus
those are the most beautiful photos i have seen on this website, ever. wow.
finally you’ve arrived! mazel tov.
Looking good!
nechama dina h.
these people emanate emes, simcha and Ahavas Hashem.
The Rebbe gave a fiery Sicha that the Menora should never be posted, or drawn with a round shape, he also said that by showing a round Menora, you give strength to the Romans, the fact that a Shul can give out plaques with round Menorahs, is very disturbing.
P.S. it’s also a Mugidike Sicah printed in Likuty Sichos.
when i visit crown heights for shabbos this is where i daven. no talking during davening, great atmosphere, and lives up to its name of ahavas yisroel.
Congrats we’re so happy you have your own place!!
lookin’ good.
