Philanthropists Sam Domb and Curtis Katz, frequent donors to Jewish causes and the Crown Heights community, joined together to help needy families ahead of Pesach. The two recently made a substantial donation for the Passover needs of hundreds of Russian immigrant families iin addition to the Crown Heights community. The aid is being distributed in the form of shmurah matzah, wine and stipends for clothing and other needs of the coming Passover holiday.
NCFJE chairman Rabbi Shea Hecht distributed the funds last week.
“The world can really learn a lot from Sam and Curtis,” said Rabbi Hecht, “they understand that Jewish families are in need—especially when the yomim tovim approach. They don’t need to be chased or harassed or persuaded to give… they give, and they give happily.”
Curtis Katz is a retired businessman and is largely responsible for the NCFJE’s annual distribution of Passover needs. Year after year he has donated the cases of wine, shmurah matzah and fresh produce that are distributed from the NCFJE’s Eastern Parkway office before Pesach.
Sam Domb, the head of Empire Hotel Group and real estate mogul, is well-known as a fervent supporter of Israeli causes and has given sizable donations for the Jewish poor of Crown Heights, most recently giving thousands for the needs of Tishrei of this past year.
Both are decades-old friends of Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht obm, and their children are among the major supporters of the NCFJE.

there are families in CH that need a lot of help for yom tov – it doesnt matter if its they are divorced or widowed – a family – how do we get on these lists to get this help with matzah and funds – i personally can use as well

A divorced Chosid with, k’a’h’, 2 small children, I sit here, Erev Rosh Chodesh Nissan and cannot shell out $20.00 a pound for matzos and make too much for food stamps. I need help to hire a shiksa to help clean. Any suggestions?l
