Lag BaOmer was one of the Mitteler Rebbe’s particularly noteworthy festivals, the Rebbe quotes in the Hayom Yom compilation for the day of Iyar 18.
The Mitteler Rebbe and the Chassidim would go out to the fields that day and many wonders were seen at that time, most of them involving the blessing of children for childless couples – and all year long people waited for Lag BaOmer.
In a letter the Rebbe wrote two months after accepting leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch in 5711, he spells out what can be done nowadays to receive blessings.
Reading a Pan (personal note of request) on the Ohel gravesite of the Chabad Rebbes on Lag BaOmer can break barriers and provide children, health and wealth.
The Rebbe added that simcha, joy, is key to breaking barriers.
Donations can still be made to the Chabad Chai Rotel organization which pays for drinks for Lag BaOmer parades around Israel. Donors names will be read at the tomb of the Rashbi in Meron and on the Rebbe’s Ohel.
To illustrate the power of the Rebbe’s blessings, we present a clip from JEM’s Living Torah video magazine, in which a husband and father from Miami shares an amazing story:
