Mrs. Devora Scheiner’s Yom Tov Fund distributed holiday food staples from a large truck in front of her home on Montgomery Street Wednesday.
Aside from cases of milk, fruit, poultry and other grocery products, additional items included brand new children’s shoes for grateful recipients.
“People tell me that if not for this they would not have food on their Yomtov table,” Scheiner, who is involved in charity for over 37 years, told COLlive.
“I started this 20 years ago when I raised money for groceries for a needy family,” she said. “I saw the need – many families can’t make ends meet.”
Over 200 families were assisted this year, all funded by private donations.
