I’ve been here every year for the past 6 years and the crowds are pretty similar to what they’ve always been even with “Shemtov” in charge. Namely you have many Israeli’s whether or not you like them they have chayus, a very vociferous Australian contingent and all the other smaller groups and sideshows. Always has been like that.
P.S. If there’s a slightly different crowd earlier on when there are more families I don’t knkow, but for the majority of the night it’s definitely like I said.

I was there the whole night and I am a regular American lubavitcher in the center of the crowed I did not see one sad soul and ya there might be a lot of tzfatim but thats simple because the average American Lubavitcher doesn’t have an interest in staying up till 6am dancing

From my perch overlooking and “overhearing” yesterday’s evening’s festivities I have drawn a conclusion. Simchas Beis Hashueiva has turned into a conglomeration of Tzfatim, bored Flatbush youth, and a bevy of other sad souls. The community that is Crown Heights was conspicuously absent, and I wondered why? I concluded that the annual Kingston Sukkos gathering (that was so dear to the Rebbe z”yal) has turned into a classless, alcohol fueled gathering that allows Israel imports to assert their demented Mishchism in the only way they know how – constant – annoying – repetitious – rote- brainless – Yechi singing. I remmber the good old days when Eli Lipsker played only Lubavitcher nigunim and the atmostphere was so pure and filled with the rebbes will that was a big kiddish hashem and kiddush lubavitch
