because those happy tidbits of news are not happy enough to distract us from the general horrible HORRIBLE HORRIBLE things that yidden went through in 5770. of course we have to thank hashem for the glimpses of sunlight that broke through the clouds every now and then, but as the chazal (the rebbe maybe?) say you must thank hashem for the good He gave us in the past while at the same time plead for the future, and i think coming out of 5770 we have alot more of the latter to do than of the former MOSHIACH NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just look at all the r’l’ tzoros that has befallen us. In the merit of ahavas yisroel we will greet moshiach. So if there is a sibling a neighbor a co-worker etc. that you don’t talk to pick up the phone rite NOW. Make Sholom and get the ball rolling so we make greet Moshiach NOW

Thank you for that flashback throughout the year. Yes, it’s true that there were many difficult times this year, and collive, we all want to log on to your site and see the wonderful news of Moshiach’s coming reported extensively! But that was really interesting to see which articles were most viewed, commented, etc – for ex, I got to see that video clip of Chabad of Capetown playing at the world cup-enjoyed it immensely, even though somehow i missed it when it was first posted. Some of the commenter’s sound depressed about this past year and everybody will agree that not good stuff happened this year but there is still time and with the coming of moshiach this year (5770), this year will be the best year ever.

I love it how col probably won’t post this, but every reader who left a comment seems to be depressed. Why not trying to post some very happy news, like the chase give away that helped many friendship circles, or the kohls cares contest which hopes to award millions of bucks to chabad all over the US?
very nice… but i agree with most of the comments here, this was an awfuly sad year, and may it be that next year, the year 5771, we will see the rebbe, and dance with the ppl that we’v lost this year and the years before… MOSHIACH NOW!!!!!!!!!!
unfortunately with everyones hopes that 5770 would be different (in a good way), it only brought more tragedy. let 5771 bring simcha and the final redemption. we should all have a happy and sweet new year!

That THIS year sees no more tsur. 5770 had more tragedies than we could cope with & I pray that 5771 is the year of the ultimate simcha. We’ve waited too long.
