Hamodia
An uplifted air of excitement carried unprecedented crowds to the annual Lag B’Omer parade and gathering in Boro Park’s 18th Avenue Park.
The event, which has become the community’s anticipated highlight of the day, brought together close to ten thousand children in a spirit of achdus and simcha.
Hours before the scheduled start of the event, throngs of children, along with mothers pushing strollers began assembling on Eighteenth Avenue and Fifty-Second Street. As the children arrived, they geared up for the marching parade, which was led by Torah-themed floats and mounted policemen.
“Ashreicheim, Yisroel!” “How fortunate is your lot, Yidden!” The joyful, soul-stirring melody traditionally sung on Lag B’Omer with the words of Rabbi Akiva, rang out loudly through the air as the boys began to march in a glorious display of Kiddush Hashem. A yeshiva boys’ marching band struck up a high-spirited beat as they led the parade up towards the park on Fifty-Sixth Street. On alternate sides of the street, men and women watched the thousands of young children march along with pride; some watched with tears gently rolling onto cheeks, others with broad smiles – all with tremendous emotion that the sights and sounds evoked.
The exuberant atmosphere was elevated as the children entered the park and took their places amongst their friends both old and new. Close to ten thousand chairs were lined up in the park; in front of them a huge stage upon which the program would take place.
The chairs quickly filled with enthusiastic children, eagerly anticipating the vibrant program that was about to commence.
The program’s speakers included Reb Aron Aryeh Eisenberg, Rabbi Moshe Wolfson and R’ Yochonon Shor.
Entertainment was by the Mezamrim Ensemble band and the famous acrobatic twins from France amazed all the participants.
The Marching Band in Toronto had the same uniform!
and it looks like you had a great Lag Ba’omer!
Hey chidah!
Looking good, I’m sure your band rocked but you were missed in California…
this is what the rebbe wants
the person who organized the parade is Leibel lipksier
Everyone is dressed like yiddin including the entertainers.
It was a nice event and was schedule for 3:00. I attended both parades. Both were very nice and very different.
The girls are not part of the BP parade. They are “farshteked” in some women’s section at the park.
R’ Ginsberg arranges the parade. He is dean of Gan Israel schools in Boro Park and he does two annual events for Boro Park, the Lag B’Omer parade and Simchas Beis Ha’Shoeiva on 13th Avenue. Otherwise, he focuses his attention on his schools (boys and girls) and shul.
looks great.. just where were the women and girls? all i saw in that crowd was boys and men… are women and girls not allowed, are they shoved aside? so wrong!
Yasher koach to the Rebbes Shliach in B.P Rabbi Ginsburg!
The girls are there as well, but not in THESE pics, mitoich tznius.
I am disappointed that the Hamodia did not even mention Chabad or Rabbi G by name!!!!
Yes, Chabad did organize this.
and yes, it is Chida Levitansky, the head of the kids drums
where are the girls?
All credit goes to Rabbi Ginsburg the Shliach in Boro Park who runs a Lag BaOmer Parade the way the Rebbe wants
