1,000’s of Esrogim Destroyed
Thousands of Calabria Esrogim imported from Italy were destroyed by toxic sprays while being inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture, the first time officials demanded to inspect them upon arrival in Israel. One seller said they may sue the Department, claiming officials were aware the Esrogim would be damaged by the spray. Photos

i love apple pie
mold spreads to areas around it so if one esrog in the box was moldy then…
they all got moldy in exactly the same way?? unlikely
they all got sprayed in exactly the same way?? yes
That’s mold, plain and simple. Looks like poor storage to me, and now someone’s trying to re-coup their losses by blaming ‘toxic spray’. Um…….. where’s the evidence of a chemical analysis of this so-called spray?
People can be so mind-numbingly naïve sometimes.
The amount of work that goes into the esrogim to make sure that theyre actually kosher for a mitzva, makes them much more expensive than “just a fruit” . But it’s very typical of the messed up Israeli bureaucracy to do something as stupid as this!!!
you are so funny can i get you for a party
Thats hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. No wait, Its a fruit so its about $150 in ACTUAL damages.
sorry but what about glorifyng a mitzvah?….
WHAT A SHAME ON US!!!
DO NOT FORGET WE ARE GOING TO
PAY BIG PRICE FOR IT… GOING UP
OF COURSE… WE ARE THE CHAMORIM
TO PAY 10X MORE FOR THE SAKE OF THE MITZVA!!!
very nice to see that everybody’s katchkes are working..
and i hope that everybody can still find esrogim for yomtov ….
