Shluchim positioned in university campuses across the U.S. are slated to meet Wednesday night with the Chabad movement’s major donor George Rohr.
In New York for Gimmel Tammuz and their annual Campus Shluchim Kinus, they will be thanking Rohr for his continued support.
Rohr will be presented with a coffee table album including family photos of all 134 Shluchim on campus and their activities.
Today, Chabad chapters are bonafide student organizations at over 100 campuses, many with beautiful student centers. Rohr, together with the Chabad on Campus International Foundation, is credited for the quick growth.
“He plays a large and very supportive role,” a Shlucha told COLlive ahead of the meeting, which is being kept private.
“His help gives you the edge over others or even in general,” she added. “He not only provides the seed money but is the backbone of programs like Sinai Scholars which propels Chabad Houses to give just a bit more.”
Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, vice chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch and chairman of Chabad on Campus International Foundation, will not be present.
Kotlarsky, a close confidant of the Rohr family and distributor of their charitable funds, has a speaking engagement at Chabad of the Valley in California.
“We’ve reached a level of maturity with a substantial network of Shluchim who are employing very sophisticated resources, with people tied into every part of the academic community,” Rabbi Menachem Schmidt, President of the Chabad on Campus International Foundation, said recently.
“And we’re beginning to see exceptional results,” Schmidt said.
the most important people of all at this convention will be the babysitters. If not for them, who will watch the shluchims’ children. Boruch Hashem for these dedicated Bais Rivkah girls that give up of their own personal time, and dedicate and devote a Shabbos to taking care of the Rebbe’s kinder. May Hashem and the Rebbe bentch you
