5731 is 1971 not 1961
The first picture is from 1961 or 1962. The “new” shul was built in place of the “shalash” (courtyard) in 1960, but the paneling was not put in until 1962. Near the Rebbe’s place curtains (which you see in the photo) were hung up to cover the cinder block wall.
The second picture is from Purim 5731 (1961), when Shazar came to the Rebbe, and was there by the reading of the Megillah downstairs in 770.
